DUPR/RTPs are offered to students who wanted to pursue a master’s degree or doctorate at Deakin University. Students must have enrolled in a full-time/part-time degree to be eligible for the scholarship. DUPRs are funded by Deakin University whereas RTPs are funded by the Australian government. RTPs will be offered only to top-ranked students.

The following faculties are eligible for the scholarship under DUPR/RTP-

2. Engineering, Science, and Built Environment
3. Business and Law
4. Frontier Materials
5. Health

Description of (DUPR)/(RTP)

The scholarship covers the following benefits :

1. A living stipend of $30,000 per annum (tax-free).
2. There will be a reallocation allowance of $500 to $1,500 (for single to family) for international as well as interstate moving students who are moving to study at Deakin University.
3. ( Only for International Students ) A Single Overseas Student Health Cover policy for the duration of the student visa.
4. For a Master’s Degree: 2 years for stipend and 2 years for the tuition fees offset will be provided whereas,
5. For Doctoral Degree: 3 years for stipend and 4 years for the tuition fees offset will be given.

Eligibility

A candidate must fulfill the following eligibility criteria to be eligible for DUPR/RTP scholarships at Deakin University-

1. International as well as Australian Citizens.
2. Must comply with University’s English language requirements.
3. Applicants must be enrolling for the Higher Degrees By Research (HDR) Courses.
4. To be eligible for RTPs Fees Offset, the applicant must not be receiving an equivalent scholarship at the university.
5. To be eligible for an RTP or DUPRs Stipend, the student must not have another source of income to support daily expenses that exceed 75% of the RTP/DURP stipend. Income unrelated to the student’s course of study or income received for the student’s course of study but not to support general living costs is not to be taken into account.

Selection process

The selection process for this scholarship is rigorous, with applicants required to demonstrate their academic excellence and personal qualities as an applicant. The process will be free and fair for all the applicants who are eligible and applying for the scholarship.

RTP and DUPRS Stipends will be awarded as the result of a competitive selection process outlined in the ranking guidelines 2023. You must rank higher to be selected for the scholarship.

Process of Application

1. First of all, applicants have to submit an Expression Of Interest ( EOI ) before proceeding with the application process. EOI differs according to the faculty and can be found here, after the faculty or the institute will advise you if you should proceed further or not.

• Prepare your proposal, i.e a brief outline of the proposed research topic.
